Company Overview
Excelsior, LLC is a privately held company established in 1999. It
currently employs 25 people, 16 of whom are software engineers. The company
is headquartered in the Novosibirsk Scientific Center and most of its
engineering and management staff possess BS and MS degrees in Math or
Physics from Novosibirsk State University, also located in the Center
Unlike many of the ex-USSR software companies oriented to foreign
markets, Excelsior specializes in the more narrow field of system
programming, with the primary focus on software development tools. Another
distinction is that Excelsior, both provides consulting services and
also acts as an independent software vendor.
Products
The flagship product of the company is Excelsior JET – optimizing Java
with a
native code compiler and high performance runtime for Microsoft Windows.
Available on the market since December 2000, Excelsior JET helps developers
worldwide to improve performance and reduce memory footprint of their Java
applications. Excelsior JET also protects intellectual property, as reverse
engineering of native-compiled Java software is much more expensive.
Excelsior JET 2.0 Professional Edition, released in May 2001, has become the
first static Java compiler for Windows that fully supports the dynamic features
of Java through Mixed Compilation Model. Previously this technology was only available for IBM's enterprise servers.
Services
The services provided by Excelsior include:
Creation of custom-tailored development tools (compilers, source to
source translators, debug and analysis tools, etc.);
Performance audit of Java applications (includes performance and memory
consumption tuning);
Legacy code solutions (automated source code conversion to C++,
application migration and porting, integration of legacy code with Java).

Dmitry Leskov
Director of Marketing
Born in 1970, Mr. Leskov started his professional career in 1989 as a
software developer at the A.P. Ershov Institute of Informatics Systems in
Novosibirsk. In 1995-1999, he worked for xTech Ltd. and its spin-off XDS
Ltd., where he had progressed from Software Engineer to Product Manager of the XDS family of Modula-2/Oberon-2 programming systems. Mr. Leskov has served as Excelsior’s Director of Marketing since company’s inception in late 1999.
